Every year, we slaughter it to give “thanks.” As an American history geek, it was good to see someone actually know the prominence the turkey held with an equally prominent founding father. The story about how the bald eagle came to hold such an important place is equally as fascinating

  2. I was aware Ben Franklin wanted the turkey as our national bird. However, the bald eagle definitely has a coolness factor, that the turkey does not.
