PUP author Adrienne Mayor receives Gold Medal at IPPY Awards

The Jenkins Group Inc. and IndependentPublisher.com held its 14th annual Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards) gala in New York on May 25th, and among the Gold Medal recipients was our very own PUP author Adrienne Mayor! She received the top honor in the Biography category for The Poison King: The Life and Legend of Mithradates, Rome’s Deadliest Enemy, and we would like to commend her on her achievement!

According to this announcement, 2,000 independent authors and publishers participated in the 2010 IPPY Awards, and “entries into this year’s 14th annual Independent Publisher Book Awards saw a dramatic increase in quality and diversity – and the writing and publishing exhibited great commitment and passion.”

The Poison King: The Life and Legend of Mithradates, Rome’s Deadliest Enemy was also a 2009 National Book Award Finalist, Nonfiction and one of The Washington Post critics’ Holiday Guide’s “Best Books of 2009.”
